Travelling Kills

I'm left with a few days before leaving this wretched island to another island on the other side of the globe. A week ago I was recovering from Japan fever. I took an 8 day trip to the land of rising sun and I totally fell in love but not all.
The culture, the people, the food but not the prices. Standard of living was high and I had a difficult time trying to stretch my dollar over meals. I had to skip a lot of restaurants and be contented with "roadside stalls". Despite the high cost of living, I managed to stick to budget. A budget of $2, 500 was allocated but I did my sums and I hit $2, 100. I will spend some time and recalculate again. Throughout my trip, I was doing my sums every night.
As I mentioned, I'm leaving for Puerto Rico in 6 more days. I don't know what to expect and I'm going to create another blog site to document my stay as an expatriate. This afternoon I got a call from my ex-colleague and she had made a booking for dinner tomorrow. After checking with her, I realised she left out 1 colleague. I took initiative and smsed my colleague about dinner, the venue. As he's currently doing a teaching course in NIE, he replied whether we can shift the dinner to Boon Lay instead, citing he now stays in a hostel. I replied saying reservations have been made and the dinner is at central area. My ex-colleagues are working in the west and I'm staying in the east. I don't see difficulty in travelling down and going back to the hostel again. Is Singapore that big? I think my new location is even bigger.
I think its not nice trying to accomodate and change locations because a booking has been made.
In the end, I can't be bothered to reply when my ex-colleague smsed to miss this dinner. I appreciate the effort my other ex-colleagues and I'm looking for a good dinner tomorrow. From this incident, I figured out that if I had stayed in my ex-company, I know who are the ones to rely on and who are the ones who will leave you in the lurch.
