Karma

Within a week I encounter 2 situations whereby I was asked for money. Whenever it comes to distributing my wealth to strangers, I'm not willing by nature. I always believe that no one can be so broke and to ask for money on the streets.

Situation 1:
An indian man was blabbering a lot of things at the bus stop. All I caught was "wife in hospital", "walked very far". He even showed me his feet which was covered totally with dirt. The question came when he asked if I could spare him $2 to take public transport.

I replied "I don't carry cash and I always pay by card."

Even if his EZ link card ran out of stored value, he probably have coins or even notes with him.

Situation 2:
Uncle approached me under a void deck. He said he lost his memory and asked for $1 in mandarin. How can my $1 help him regain his memory? I faked an accent and answered him in English saying that I don't understand what he was saying.

I'm reflecting on both situations and maybe I'll get struck my lightning one day for being for heartless, uncaring oh whatever. If I land myself in a pathetic state, will there be anyone out there to lend his helping hand?

I don't think so, because I'm that guy whose heart had turned stone cold.
